Marketing Manager - Downtown Mesa Association

Marketing Manager

If monotony is your nemesis, you might be a good fit for the Marketing & Events team! Between social media management, graphic design, website management, developing marketing strategies, and assisting with event development and implementation, no two days are ever the same!

This position has a broader scope than a typical marketing position; rather than promoting a single product or company, the DMA represents all of Downtown Mesa: restaurants, retail, museums, events, and more! The work of the DMA varies greatly from week to week and season to season.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable about the DMA’s vision, goals and purpose
  • Present and maintain a positive public image of Downtown Mesa and the organization
  • Serve as the primary staff person to implement the DMA’s marketing program
  • Identify strategies to continuously tell the story of downtown and keep downtown top-of-mind for residents and visitors alike
  • Work collaboratively with all DMA staff to ensure the highest quality end-product

Roles & Responsibilities

Marketing & Branding

  • Ensure brand consistency across all DMA communications
  • Create and implement a Marketing & Communications plan for the DMA
  • Support the development of collateral, including Annual Reports, Development Updates and help create PowerPoint presentations
  • Photograph and capture video at DMA events and downtown businesses for use on website and social media; maintain an organized image library

Social Media & Graphic Design:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to increase brand visibility. Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging social media trends
  • Develop engaging content for social media, email campaigns, websites, and other marketing channels. This includes writing compelling print, creating visual assets, and coordinating multimedia content production
  • Use Google Analytics and social media data to generate reports on key metrics, such as engagement, reach, and conversion rates
  • Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner to maintain positive relationships with the public and downtown businesses
  • Create graphics for digital and print use for all events and promotions, maintaining brand cohesion.

Public Communications

  • Update and manage the DMA website and Mailchimp (e.g. business listings, event calendar, publish blogs, etc.)
  • Create an engaging monthly public e-newsletter
  • Cultivate a list of external community groups for events, calendar and general email updates


  • Collaborate with Events Manager to create a Marketing Plan and collateral for each DMA event and promotion
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends at events throughout the year

Public Relations

  • Create media lists (national, trade, local, travel writers, bloggers)
  • Identify and grow relationships with media contacts
  • Write and distribute press releases
  • Actively pitch stories to appropriate media outlets, and secure media attention for new businesses, events and downtown happenings


  • Minimum of an Associate degree in marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media marketing with a brand/business account, and comfort using all social media platforms
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, strategies, and techniques
  • Should have a great attitude, an eye for detail, and a desire to work as a team player, yet also be able to work independently and with limited supervision at times
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Familiarity with MailChimp or other similar email marketing tools
  • Strong knowledge of SEO principles and best practices for content optimization
  • Good eye for design
  • Strong writing and excellent communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities


Benefits are available including health, dental and vision insurance. The DMA offers an excellent working environment with a flexible approach to our need for non-traditional work hours.

Salary starting at $50,000.

    Downtown Mesa Association (DMA) was created to promote and market Downtown Mesa, to provide for safety and cleanliness standards and improvements, to serve as a catalyst for business development, to provide a voice for Downtown interests and to position landowners and business owners in the district for optimum return on their investment.

    Delta Hotels by Marriott Phoenix Mesa / Hotel Sales Coordinator

    The Sales Coordinator is responsible for providing clerical & administrative assistance to the Director of Sales& Marketing, Sales Managers and the Director of Catering/Events. At times, the sales coordinator may be called upon to take on selling duties for small groups and functions. The ideal candidate for this role has a passion for building relationships and providing amazing communication and experience to our sales leaders and clients.

    · Work independently and with a team on special, nonrecurring, and ongoing projects
    · Input all group room blocks and events into MARSHA
    · Monitor group pick-up and cutoff dates to ensure that group blocks are up to date in CI
    · Produce and distribute group resumes for “rooms only” groups
    · Process Marriott Bonvoy Event points, Group Commissions and rebates
    · Process and follow-up on all VIP guestroom reservations to include site inspections
    · Organizes and maintains file system and correspondences.
    · Greets scheduled visitors and makes the introduction to meet with the appropriate manager.
    · Assemble all sales and marketing packets and maintains inventory of all collateral.
    · Ensure that all collateral is kept up to date and distributed all necessary individuals.
    · Process and follow-up on all amenity and special request orders.
    · Take inquiry calls, gather qualifying information and distribute leads appropriately.
    · To ensure that all leads are traced and filed for follow-up.
    · To check space availability as necessary.
    · Other duties and jobs may be assigned as needed by Director of Sales & Marketing

    Salary Range: From $20 per hour - Full Time
