Marketing & Events Coordinator

Job Title: Marketing and Events Coordinator

  • Full Time, in office Mon-Fri
  • Some evenings and weekends required for events and promotions
  • Salary starting at: $40,000

Position Overview

The Marketing and Events Coordinator plays a key role in promoting a vibrant, welcoming downtown by supporting marketing initiatives, assisting with event production, and creating engaging digital content that drive foot traffic and community engagement. This position blends creativity, organization, and collaboration to help showcase downtown businesses, programs, and events.

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for creating and coordinating social media and digital content including eblasts and website, assists with all communications programs to both stakeholders and the general public, and assisting with the planning and execution of downtown events. This role requires a creative self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Director of Business Engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Write clear, compelling copy for social media posts, email newsletters, event promotions, and website updates
  • Maintain website to ensure information is current and communicated clearly
  • Create and schedule engaging social media content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn)
  • Capture photos and short-form video at events and around downtown for promotional use
  • Assist with maintaining brand consistency across all marketing materials
  • Track basic engagement metrics and help evaluate marketing performance
  • Staffing promotional table at events which includes communicating Downtown’s vision and mission as well as an understanding of the businesses and events happening in downtown.

Graphic Design

  • Create simple graphics using tools such as Canva or Adobe Express (event flyers, social media graphics, signage, and promotional materials)
  • Assist with updating existing templates and marketing assets
  • Coordinate with external designers or printers when needed

Event Planning & Execution

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing downtown events, promotions, and activations.
  • Support logistics including permits, vendors, entertainment, volunteers, timelines, and supplies
  • Provide on-site event support, including setup, breakdown, and coordination during events
  • Communicate with businesses, sponsors, partners, and vendors related to events
  • Help evaluate events through attendance tracking, feedback, and post-event reporting

Administrative & General Support

  • Maintain marketing and event calendars
  • Assist with database management, contact lists, and sponsorship records
  • Support other organizational initiatives and special projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or event coordination (internships welcome)
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with website CMS systems, Mailchimp, or similar programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for events
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move items such as tables, tents, boxes, etc.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

Salary Range: Starting at $40,000 DOE
