Dive deep into the expressive world of mixed media portraiture in this soulful, process-driven art class. Nicole Austin, of KINUEKO.COM will help you explore the beauty of imperfection, emotion, and individuality as we build several richly textured backgrounds in our art journals—each one a unique foundation for the portraits that will emerge.
Using a vibrant mix of materials, including acrylic paint, paint pens, oil pastels, collage, and paint sticks, you’ll learn to layer intuitively and bring your portraits to life in a variety of stages and styles. From loose and abstract to more defined and expressive, each portrait will reflect your inner voice and creative flow.
No portrait experience is necessary—just a willingness to explore, play, and connect with your art in new ways.
Note: Please bring an art journal to work in. Larger sizes work best (9" x 12" or larger), but you can also work in several smaller-sized journals (ex: two 5"x7" journals). I prefer the Canson or Strathmore brand, mixed-media weight paper (watercolor paper tends to be too heavy).
