Details
Erica, from Mesa, Arizona, has played piano for 18 years and has an abiding love of music, especially classical piano and jazz. She currently works as the choir accompanist at Heritage Academy in Mesa. She graduated in 2019 from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Music Composition and a minor in Creative Writing. At BYU, she had many original compositions and arrangements performed by BYU performing arts groups and other students. As part of her music education at BYU, she studied piano performance and music history for a term in Vienna, Austria.
One of her favorite things to do is play by ear and arrange and improvise jazz standards, pop, and other styles on the spot. When she’s not playing piano or writing, you can find her playing the ukulele, reading, or painting. In the fall, she will begin a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and hopes to go on to pursue a career in writing and editing while still playing piano professionally as well.
