Details
Build your own robot with LED eyes that light up when you touch his heart. This workshop serves as a way to teach how to design projects for the laser cutter. You will combine and modify designs for laser cutting your own customized robot with a copper circuit. We will start with the basics of using the Inkscape software for vector editing. Then help you cut your robot on the laser cutter. Finally adding copper tape and soldering it to make it light up! No experience is required.
You do not need to bring anything as we will have laptops ready to go for this event.
This is a 3 hour workshop please plan to be there for all of it. The first half is Inkscape basics. Second half is building and soldering the robots.
This is a great way to get introduced to the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, soldering iron, and Inkscape design software.
Please know that kids under 8 probably can't do this workshop on their own. It's fine if you sign up and work together with them.
(This class will NOT certify you to use the laser cutters unsupervised. There is a separate Laser Cutter Certification class which is required to use the laser cutters unsupervised. Laser Certification is not required for this event.)
